![]() ![]() Originally we were meant to be in an inside cabin but after telling NCL about my wheelchair they moved us without me asking which was appreciated. As mentioned, I could walk a bit so would have to wheel to the cleaning trolley, get out and walk past whilst my wife folded my chair partially then get back in again and repeat 2 or 3 times each corridor. If the corridor is completely clear then they're absolutely fine however if this isn't the case(which it often isn't) then you can't pass the stewards trolleys and on embarkation and disembarkation the luggage makes the corridor impassable. Corridors to the rooms are not suitable whatsoever. A lot of the shops onboard are just shop fronts so can be viewed but those you physically go into aren't overly wheelchair friendly, I got stuck once or twice. Restaurants were all accessible and staff were happy to assist how they could. The lifts could be a bit of a death trap as well as the gap between lift and ground is quite large, on several occasions my wheels were turned and got stuck in the gap propelling me forward. Part of the accessibility information included tips on areas that were wider, why is the whole ship not wide enough? On many occasions navigating through the atrium we had to ask people to move, move chairs or turn around from an area completely. One thing it didn't have were very wide corridors. The atrium is visually very busy, lots of seating, light fittings, pillars, interlocking staircases, bar areas. Ship accessibility First impressions of the ship on the inside were that it seemed tight. Once inside the check in area however we were sent through a separate accessibility queue and checked in quickly before a porter helped with the rest of the boarding process taking me up the gangway, aboard the ship and up to our muster station before leaving us to it. There were no staff giving any clear direction just a luggage drop area, no queue system and a couple of local port staff with bag tags that you had to try and grab before anyone else did. Embarkation: Embarkation was a bit of a mess at Reykjavik. Also I could walk a few steps with a crutch, if you were completely unable to do this, you'd really struggle with the ship but more on that later. I'm going through back problems so to make the trip easier rented a wheelchair to take with me so this review will be from the perspective of a wheelchair user. Positives: Indulge food hall Theatre shows Free at sea Size/quality of cabins Negatives: Layout of ship/accessibility Up charges Noise Itinerary changes We've recently returned from our trip aboard NCL prima from Reykjavik back to Southampton and have been left wholly disappointed with the experience.
